A Look At the Practice So Far...

Sunflower Micro-greens

The practice of zen-cuisine creates a gracious atmosphere in our living space. It makes a place where love is present. In the zen-cuisine kitchen, caring and kindness can be experienced and shared. As we become more intentional, we transform our cooking practice with mindfulness. This ‘paying attention to what is happening’ transforms our mental continuum, or mind stream. Dynamic change generates an energy shift in our inner consciousness, and we experience subtle openings of the heart. In practicing zen-cuisine we are empowered by the interpenetration of our deepest self and the unfolding present moment.

While this shift may appear dramatic, in actuality, it is often so subtle and gentle we may not be fully aware of how empowering this practice of zen-cuisine can be. It’s an excellent idea, from time to time, to savor the process as it is unfolding. Take a moment to look deeply at this profound inner transformation, with gratefulness, with joy.

In the silence of this present moment, think about how you have been changed by the practice of zen-cuisine. How has the way you understand yourself in the context of the kitchen changed? Are there differences in the way you think about the art of cooking? Can food preparation provide a praxis for your relationship with other people?

Think about the way you now cook intentionally, with mindfulness. Can you sense a shift in perspective? Is there a different sensibility in your kitchen? Appreciate this newly-emerging clarity of mind. Feel your awareness moving into the flow of constructive energy. Take a moment. Savor love’s presence and power in your practice of zen-cuisine.
